Join the Minnesota Huayue Music Ensemble (MHME) for an inspiring evening celebrating the rich and diverse musical traditions of China.
A Tapestry of Chinese Music · 锦绣华乐 brings together the vibrant sounds of Chinese traditional instruments, classical poetry, folk traditions, and Peking Opera-inspired music in one memorable concert.
From the sweeping landscapes of northern China to the graceful melodies of Cantonese music, from the poetry of ancient China to the expressive voices of the erhu, guzheng, dizi, jinghu, and gaohu, this program offers a musical journey across China’s rich cultural landscape.
The concert also explores the creative possibilities of combining traditional Chinese instruments with Western instruments, including saxophone, creating new colors and contemporary interpretations of beloved Chinese melodies.
⭐ Featuring Distinguished Guest Artists
We are honored to welcome exceptional musicians from across the United States for this special concert:
Chen Tao · 陈涛 — Dizi Master, New York
A renowned dizi (Chinese bamboo flute) artist invited especially from New York, Chen Tao will bring the distinctive brilliance, agility, and expressive power of the Chinese bamboo flute to the program.
Ye Yu · 余野 — Saxophone Professor, California
Invited from California, Professor Ye Yu joins the ensemble in special arrangements that bring the warm, lyrical voice of the saxophone into dialogue with traditional Chinese instruments.
Qian Xu · 许倩 — Soprano, Minnesota
Renowned Minnesota soprano Qian Xu will be featured in a female vocal solo performance. With her beautiful and expressive voice, she will add an elegant and captivating vocal dimension to the concert.
Roz Tsai —Concert Host · Minnesota
We are also delighted to welcome Roz Tsai, a well-known concert host in Minnesota, as the host of this special evening.
With her extensive stage experience and warm, engaging presentation style, Roz Tsai will guide audiences through the program, introducing the musical background, cultural stories, and artistic significance behind the works.

The concert will also feature three distinguished master musicians of the Minnesota Huayue Music Ensemble:
Zhengang Xie · 谢振刚 — Jinghu Master
A distinguished master of the jinghu, the principal bowed instrument of Peking Opera.
Mei Hu · 胡梅 — Yueqin Master
A highly accomplished performer of the yueqin, a traditional Chinese moon-shaped lute widely used in Peking Opera and Chinese folk music.
Jiaxiang Li · 李家骧 — Guzheng Master
A distinguished master of the guzheng, the traditional Chinese plucked zither known for its elegant, expressive, and resonant sound.
Together with the MHME ensemble, these artists create a unique musical experience that brings together generations, regions, instruments, and musical traditions.
🎼 About Minnesota Huayue Music Ensemble
Minnesota Huayue Music Ensemble (MHME / 明州华乐) is a Minnesota-based Chinese traditional music ensemble dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich heritage of Chinese music while promoting cultural exchange through performance and education.
Since its founding, MHME has performed throughout the Twin Cities at cultural festivals, community celebrations, senior living communities, and major public venues. The ensemble brings together musicians with diverse musical backgrounds and experience, presenting traditional Chinese repertoire alongside innovative arrangements and cross-cultural collaborations.
Through its performances, MHME seeks to make Chinese music accessible to audiences of all cultural backgrounds and to create meaningful connections between Eastern and Western musical traditions.

从陕北黄土高原的豪迈民歌，到岭南广东音乐的清雅婉转；从二胡、古筝、竹笛、板胡、京胡、高胡等传统民族乐器的独特音色，到萨克斯管与中国民族乐器的跨文化融合；从古老的民间传说和经典诗词，到京剧音乐独特的艺术韵味——本场音乐会将带领观众踏上一段跨越地域、时代与艺术形式的音乐之旅。

特别从纽约邀请著名笛子大师 陈涛 参加本场音乐会。竹笛清脆明亮、灵动悠扬，既具有鲜明的民族特色，又拥有丰富的艺术表现力。陈涛将以精湛的演奏技艺，为观众展现中国竹笛独具魅力的声音世界。
余野
萨克斯管教授 · 加州
特别从加州邀请萨克斯管演奏家、音乐教育家 余野教授。他的加入将为本场音乐会带来独特的跨文化音乐色彩，并通过萨克斯管与古筝、二胡等民族乐器的合作，探索中西乐器之间丰富而富有新意的声音对话。
许倩
女高音歌唱家 · 明州
明州著名女高音歌唱家 许倩 将为本场音乐会带来女声独唱。她将通过优美细腻的歌声为整场音乐会增添优雅而动人的声乐色彩。
Roz Tsai

谢振刚先生是明州华乐团的重要艺术家之一，精于京胡演奏。京胡是京剧音乐中最具代表性的主奏乐器之一，以高亢明亮、苍劲有力的音色著称。在本场音乐会中，京胡将展现其独特的戏曲韵味和丰富的情感表现力。

月琴大师
胡梅女士精于月琴演奏。月琴是中国传统弹拨乐器，因琴身呈圆形、形似月亮而得名，常用于京剧及其他民族音乐演奏。其音色清脆圆润，既富有节奏感，也具有鲜明的音乐色彩。
李家骧
古筝大师
李家骧先生是古筝演奏艺术家。古筝是中国传统弹拨乐器，以清雅、悠扬、富有层次的音色著称，能够表现从宁静幽远到热烈奔放的丰富音乐情感。
